Meet the Team

GPs

Critical to the care you receive are the staff that look after you. We are proud of the team we have at Katikati Medical Centre. Already trained to a high standard we ensure they continue to maintain their skills by regular attendance at training courses and of course all our staff have extensive experience.

I have been working at Katikati Medical Centre since I first arrived in New Zealand in April 2018. My family and I decided to leave the UK forever and seek a new life and adventure on the other side of the world. We chose Katikati as the best area to live – and so far we have not been wrong!

We love the open, relaxed friendly atmosphere here and the beaches and bush are wonderful.

I have a wife who is French, three children at secondary school and an energetic dog who came with us from the UK.

I went to medical school in London and initially I worked as a doctor in the British Army for 10 years qualifying as a GP in 2007.

In 2009 I joined an NHS practice on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England where I stayed for 9 yrs.

I enjoy all aspects of general practice and find the variety of conditions seen in the medical centre very interesting.

After deciding that my job as a Management Consultant wasn’t rewarding enough, I went back to Uni in 2003 to study Medicine. I graduated in England, but the plan was always to move permanently to New Zealand.

In 2010 that dream became a reality and my family moved to Auckland. Quickly realising that I wanted to train as a GP, we left the big smoke and moved to Central Otago where I completed my GP Fellowship. In 2016 we became NZ citizens and moved to Katikati for some culture, surf and sand.

At work I have special interests in Women’s Health and Child & Adolescent Health. In my free time, I love throwing a stick for my hyperactive dog, playing tennis, skiing and snowboarding and eating good food.

I attended Medical School in Auckland and have worked as a GP in Tauranga for 10 years. Since early 2010 I have been working here at Katikati Medical Centre.

I grew up in Katikati so it is really nice to be back in my home town. You will only find me here part time as I have 3 children to look after too.

I like to see a variety of patients of all ages but I am keen on preventative health so am always happy to see people just for a ‘check up’.

I’ve been a GP at the Katikati Medical Centre since 2001, and a Katikati resident for almost 10 years before that; so my 2 children have attended local schools and grown up here in Katikati.

I like the variety of our busy practice, and especially enjoy developing relationships with patients over the years – some of whom I’ve known for over 20 years now! We have a modern spacious facility and a dedicated hardworking group of staff at the KMC, and it’s a pleasure to work with such a great team.

Originally from Auckland, I enjoy living in our small but busy town, and appreciate our beautiful climate, hills and coastline.
Reading, cycling, tennis, skiing (badly), music and cooking keep me occupied when I’m away from work.

I was born and raised in South Africa, working initially in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before spending 2 years in the UK in various hospitals.

After returning to SA and a 2 year stint in Family Practice and 3 years as an A&E doctor, it was off to Canada where I qualified and practiced under their system as a GP for 8 years.

Our family, including two young toddlers, have really enjoyed the transition to the Kiwi lifestyle since we arrived in Katikati in mid-2018.

I am a UK trained GP and moved to New Zealand in 2014. I have worked in Tauranga since I arrived. I very much enjoy working in Katikati and being part of the community.

I enjoy all aspects of General practice and I am currently undergoing extra training in Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery.

I have a young family and we like to spend any free time going to the beach, tramping and getting the paintbrushes out (aka making a mess).
